HUTH SHOULD STAY
Stoke city player Andy Wilkinson has said that he wants defender Robert Huth to sign a new contract with the club. Robert Huth has only one year remaining on his current deal. Stoke have already expressed their interest in offering the former Chelsea defender a new contract. Stoke city manager Tony Pulis has also come in support of the German staying at the Britannia stadium. He was signed from Middlesbrough for less than £ 5 million, but he has become a crucial member in the Stoke squad. He is once again expected to be in the starting line-up for the match against Arsenal during the weekend.
Stoke have always had the upper hand over Arsenal. One of the reasons for this has been the physical approach of the team. Andy Wilkinson has said that Robert Huth is one player who you should be afraid when going into a 50-50 challenge because the German never gives up. Stoke are currently 14th in the Premier league table. One of the main reasons for their success in the league has been their home form. Hence, Wilkinson reckons that it certainly will not be easy for Arsenal to get all three points, despite the presence of inform striker Robin van Persie.
“I’ve told him to get his contract signed. He can stay here and be a legend… if he’s not already. He’s a top-class player. Even in training, if there’s a 50-50, he’s the one person you wouldn’t want to go in with – not that I’d pull out. From a fans’ point of view, he is everything Stoke City is. There’s always a massive buzz because they are a top club and team. We are underdogs again, but we love being underdogs. Hopefully we can cause an upset,” Wilkinson said ahead of the Arsenal match.
