Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has said that he is relatively calm over the future of Harry Maguire, considering no club have matched their asking price. The Foxes have placed a £90m price tag on the head of the England international and so far, neither Manchester United nor Manchester City have met the valuation.

Speaking to reporters, Rodgers indicated that the Foxes have placed a value for the Englishman and that has not been met by any club. He added to praise the professionalism of the centre-back, who played 45 minutes through a 1-0 friendly win over Scunthorpe United, he said:”There’s a value that hasn’t been met yet and my support is to him.

“He’s a special player and we want to keep him but, of course, time will tell. The other club interested is a huge club but he’s a really good guy. I’ve been in this position a number of times and it’s never easy but he’s taken part in everything and hasn’t showed anything other than sheer professionalism. You’ve seen that tonight with the 45 minutes he played.”

Both United and City are reported to have failed with £70m bids for the defender this month and the latter have apparently decided against making a fresh approach. On the contrary, the Red Devils have continued with the pursuit of the central defender and they have been fancied to make a £80m bid, which could still be turned down by the Foxes.

Elsewhere, Rodgers has acknowledged that the club have the options to replace Maguire, should he make the move away from the King Power Stadium. Brighton & Hove Albion’s Lewis Dunk and Burnley’s James Tarkowski have been identified as probable candidates to reinforce the heart of the defence and the Foxes may have to spend around £40m to pursue one of those players this summer.
