Stoke City’s Robert Huth has made over 30 appearances for his club since the season he was signed by the Premier League club as the €5 million signing became a fundamental player not only for Tony Pullis but for Mark Hughes as he took over the English club by being appointed into the new head coach on May 30 of 2013.

The 29 years old German defender will be unable to continue his consistent series of performances and appearances for Stoke City as he is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing a knee surgery.

Huth has been struggling in the past few months with his knee as he already went through a surgery in November of 2013.

“Unfortunately Robert had an operation and he will now miss the remainder of the season. The knee was reacting adversely to the work we were trying to do with him, so this is something that we have had to do’’.

“He has been close on a number of occasions, but we weren’t willing to risk him .In some regards it was good news because we have got to the bottom of what the problem was, and hopefully he will be fit and raring to go for the start of next season’’. Mark Hughes told reporters.

The absence of Robert Huth has allowed the Irish midfielder Marc Wilson on getting more playing time in the main team of Stoke City which is great news for the 26 years old player who was struggling trying to playing time under Mark Hughes and now has the chance to prove his worth.

Since Marc Wilson made his move from Portsmouth to Stoke City, he has been deployed as a centre-back, right-back and central midfielder. During Robert Huth’s recovery Wilson is mainly being used as a makeshift defender and he expressed details about his situation.

“Yes, it’s what I’ve got to do. You want to give the manager some food for thought and I just go out and try to give my best every game’’. Wilson said.
